Moving Toward Community-Based Renewable Energy
On September 24, MBCA hosted a Desert-Wise Living Program focused on intersecting issues of water and energy and the need for community-level renewable energy solutions.

Peter Brooks, Director of Business Development for NLine Energy, Inc., provided an update on the “big picture” status of Renewable Energy policy challenges across the country. Here is Peter's presentation

 Darrell Reynolds, Director of Engineering for the Mojave Water Agency, provided information on the MWA’s “In-Conduit HydroElectric Generator.” Here is Darrell's presentation on MWA's Deep Creek Hydroelectric Project

 Professor Alfredo Martinez-Morales, Managing Director of the Southern California Research Initiative for Solar Energy (SC-RISE), spoke about real-life community scale and neighborhood renewable energy projects developed at SC-RISE.  His presentation describes micro-grid projects at University of California Riverside, Rancho Cucamonga City Hall, and the Chemehuevi Community Center in Havasu City, California.

Local resident and Certified Greywater Installer Nicholas Holmes provided a comprehensive look at the responsible reuse of domestic water as a source of landscape water.  Here is Nicholas’s Greywater presentation.

Frank Luckino, City Manager of Twentynine Palms, udpated the audience on his city’s feasibility study for engaging in a Consumer Choice Aggregation agreement, which is still being researched.
