We have been residents of the Basin for the past 25 years: the first nineteen years part-time as camping week-enders and were fortunate to move here full-time in 2009.
 
What I like most about living in Pipes Canyon is the hearty, creative and diverse people who live around us. I am continuously amazed and rewarded by the mutual sense of respect and protection for one another and for the landscape around us. There is strong shared sense of wonder for the magnificent place we are lucky to call home.
 
I have served on the MBCA Board of Directors for a total of six years - the past 2 as President.  I have been involved in efforts to locate renewable energy appropriately in the Mojave Desert. I actively supported California Desert Coalition’s fight against Green Path North and Save-Our-Desert's opposition to the wind project proposed for the Buttes in Pipes Canyon. I have been working with the Homestead Valley Community Council to have Highway 247 designated as a Scenic Byway. As a retired museum collections management professional, I volunteer regularly for the Hi-Desert Nature Museum. Also, am currently engaged in efforts to address the BLM’s WEMO Transportation Routes to direct off-road-vehicle activity away from rural residential communities and sensitive conservation lands. I recently began CERT (Community Energy Response Team) training. Our city friends wonder if we have enough to do here!
 
Issues I have passion for are living lightly on the land with the wise use of water, our home’s off-the-grid electrical capability, and nurturing the natural landscape around us.
 
I continue to be motivated to help with the work MBCA does because of the success of MBCA’s efforts to inform and communicate with the community around issues that support the quality of life in the Basin.
